How a Snake duel works

  1. 1One board for both

Your match gets its own board. You and your friend get the same rocks and the same apples in the same order, and both snakes move at the same speed.

  2. 23-2-1, go

The race starts the moment your friend opens the link: a shared countdown, and both snakes set off at once.

  3. 3Eat them all

Every apple makes your snake a square longer. Their bar shows how many apples they have eaten.

  4. 4Three lives

A crash into a wall, a rock or yourself adds 3 seconds and stops the snake until you turn. The third crash loses the race.

Who wins?

Both finish

The quicker snake wins: its steps plus crash seconds, worked out on our server from every turn.

Someone crashes a third time

They are out, and the other player wins.

Someone leaves, drops out for 15 seconds, or makes no move for a minute

The other player wins straight away.

Want another go?

Either of you can offer a rematch: one tap, a new board, a new 3-2-1.

How to beat your friend at Snake

Shortest route wins

Both snakes move at the same speed, so the race is decided by steps. Turn one square early and cut the corners.

A crash is 3 seconds

That’s about twenty steps. A safe loop round your tail is nearly always quicker than a risky squeeze.

Tap two at once

Turns are saved for the next square. Press up and then left together for a tight U-turn.

Watch your tail late on

With 25 apples your snake gets long. Keep it in tidy lines along the edges so the middle stays open.

Why Snake is made for 1v1

Snake is the arcade classic everyone knows: steer, eat, grow, and don’t run into yourself. Snake 1v1 turns it into a multiplayer race. You and a friend play the same board at the same time, and the first to clear every apple wins.

Every match gets its own fresh board, and both players get the identical rocks and apples at the identical speed. Every turn you make is replayed on our server, which counts the steps and crashes itself, so the faster route really is the winner.

Races are live. Send the link, keep the page open, and the moment your friend opens it you both get the same 3-2-1. If someone leaves mid-race or stops playing, the other player wins, and either of you can call a rematch in one tap. It is free, it runs in any browser, and nobody needs an account: just a name.

Prefer to play alone? Today’s daily Snake is the same for everyone, with its own leaderboard and streak.

Snake 1v1 questions

Can I play snake against a friend online?

Yes. Tap “Challenge a friend”, send the link by WhatsApp, text or any app, and your friend gets the exact same board. Keep the page open: the race starts the moment they open it.

How is the winner decided in Snake 1v1?

The player who eats every apple in the least time wins. Time is the snake’s steps plus 3 seconds a crash, worked out on our server. A third crash loses the race.

Do both snakes play on the same board?

Each of you has your own board, with the same rocks and the same apples. You see their progress as a bar, so you never get in each other’s way.

Does a 1v1 match use the daily Snake?

No. Matches use their own boards, so racing never spoils today’s daily or touches your daily streak.

Is Snake 1v1 free?

Yes, completely free in your browser on phone or computer. No download and no account: your friend just opens the link, picks a name, and plays.
