How a Hive duel works

A fresh hive of seven letters is made for your match. You and your friend get the same letters and the same goal.

Every word scores its length minus 2, plus 5 for using all seven letters. Their bar shows how close they are to a full hive.
- 4No hints
Hints are off in a race. Shuffle still works, as often as you like.

How to beat your friend at Hive
A seven-letter word scores 5 points before its bonus. Two long words beat five short ones, and take less typing.
Every hive has a word using all seven letters, worth 5 extra. Spot it early and you are well ahead.
Once a stem works, try it with -ED, -ING, -ER and -LY. Each one is a new word for a few keystrokes.
On a computer the keyboard is far faster than the honeycomb. Enter plays the word, Space shuffles.

Hive is a word puzzle about seeing words inside a handful of letters: seven in a honeycomb, one of them in the middle and in every word. Head to head it turns into a sprint, because the faster you spot the long words, the faster your honey bar fills.
