Who we are
DailyFunGames is a free daily puzzle games website. In this policy “we” means the team that runs it. Questions about your data: contact us.
What we store and why
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| A random player ID, created when you open a daily puzzle | So your results and streaks count, even before you pick a name | Until you delete your account |
| Your player name, if you choose one | Shown on the leaderboards | Until you change it or delete your account |
| Your daily results: game, date, time taken, mistakes, hints, points, and when you started | Leaderboards, streaks, points, and spotting cheating | Until you delete your account |
| A scrambled (hashed) copy of your recovery code and sign-in token | Signing you in on this and other devices. We can’t read the originals. | Until you sign out, get a new code or delete your account |
| Contact form messages: your name, email, message, and the IP address it came from | Answering you, and stopping spam. Messages also reach our team chat (Slack). | Up to 2 years, or delete on request |
| Your IP address | Briefly, in memory only, to stop spam and abuse (rate limits). It is not saved with your account. | Minutes |
| Standard web server logs (IP, page, browser) | Keeping the site secure and working | Up to 14 days |
We use this data only to run the games. The legal basis is providing the service you ask for when you play (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in keeping it fair and secure (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Cookies and storage on your device
| Name | Type | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
dv_session | Cookie, 1 year | Keeps you signed in to your player account. Strictly necessary. |
dv:game:*, dv:points, dv:games | Local storage | Your progress, unfinished puzzles and stats, so the site works even offline. |
dv:theme | Local storage | Remembers light or dark mode. |
dv:name, dv:nav | Local storage | Your player name, streak and points, so the header shows them right away. |
These are all needed for the site to work, so we don’t show a cookie banner. Clearing your browser data removes them (sign in again with your recovery code to get your account back).
Visitor statistics
We don’t use any analytics or tracking tools. If we add visitor counting later, it will be a privacy-friendly tool without cookies, and we’ll list it here.
Who else sees your data
- Other players see your player name and scores on the leaderboards. Nothing else.
- Slack, our team chat, receives contact form messages so we can answer them.
- Our hosting providers store and serve the site for us under data processing agreements.
We don’t sell or rent your data, and there are no ads.
Your rights
You can see your stats and change your name on your account page, and delete your account there. Deleting removes your name, results, streaks and sign-ins immediately.
You also have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, to object to how we use it, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us (topic “Account help”) and include your player name (we may ask you to prove it’s yours with your recovery code).
Children
DailyFunGames is for a general audience. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). Player names must not contain your real full name or contact details.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. Big changes will also be announced on the site.
