Type Rush is a free typing speed test with a twist: everyone types the same text each day. Type it out as fast and as accurately as you can, and you get your speed in words per minute (WPM) and your accuracy, then see how you rank against everyone else who typed it today.
You type real sentences, not random word lists, so the test feels like the typing you do every day. Early in the week the text is about 25 words of plain sentences. Midweek it grows to around 35 words, and weekends bring about 50, with numbers, quotes and question marks to keep your fingers honest.
The clock only starts on your first key, so take a moment to read the first line. Your speed counts only the letters you got right, so rushing through typos doesn’t pay. It works with a physical keyboard or the keyboard on your phone, and there is nothing to install.

🎮How to play

Tap the text box (or press any key on a computer). The clock starts with your first key.

Type the text exactly as shown, including capital letters and punctuation. Press Space to move on to the next word.

A wrong letter shows in red. Press Backspace to fix it, or move on and leave it: typos left in lower your score.

The clock stops the moment you type the last word correctly.

Your speed is in words per minute, counting only correct letters (five letters make a word). Accuracy is the share of keys you got right the first time.

Look a word or two ahead of where you are typing. Reading ahead is what makes fast typists fast.
- Tip 2
Accuracy first. A typo costs the time to notice it, delete it and type it again: usually more than you saved.

Keep your fingers resting on the home row (A S D F and J K L ;) and let each finger own its own keys.

On a phone, type with two thumbs and turn off autocorrect suggestions if they get in the way.

What is a good typing speed?
Most people type between 35 and 45 words per minute. Around 60 WPM is quick, 80 is very fast, and the best typists go past 120. Accuracy above 95% matters just as much.
How is WPM calculated?
Every five correct characters count as one word, spaces included. We divide that by the minutes you took, from your first key to the last word. Characters you got wrong and left in do not count.
Is it the same text for everyone?
Yes. Every player types exactly the same text each day, so the leaderboard is a fair comparison. Practice mode has unlimited new texts.
Can I take the typing test on my phone?
Yes. Tap the text and your phone’s keyboard comes up. Phone speeds are usually lower than on a computer, so compare your scores on the same device.
Can I race a friend?
Yes. Challenge a friend to a live 1v1 typing race on the same text. The first to finish wins, and every typo left in adds a second.
