How to play Sudoku

✓

Every row needs 1 to 9

Each row must contain the numbers 1–9, each exactly once. This row is missing a 7.

✓

…every column and every box

The same goes for each column and each 3×3 box. This box already has 1–8, so the empty square is a 9.

✕

No repeats

A number can’t appear twice in the same row, column or box. A wrong number turns red and counts as a mistake.

Pencil in your ideas

Turn on Notes to jot small candidates in a square. When you place a number, matching notes nearby clear themselves.

Select, then place

Tap a square, then a number below (or type 1–9). Stuck? You get 3 hints per puzzle; fewer mistakes and hints means more points.

Tips & tricks

  • Tip 1

Start with the rows, columns and boxes that are already almost full: they have the fewest possibilities left.

  • Tip 2

Look for “hidden singles”: a digit that can only go in one square of a box, even if that square could hold other digits.

  • Tip 3

Use Notes on harder days. When two squares in a unit can only hold the same two digits, you can remove those digits from every other square in that unit.

  • Tip 4

Scan one digit at a time across the whole grid. It is faster than studying one square at a time.

Questions

When does the new daily Sudoku come out?

A new puzzle unlocks every day at midnight in your local time. Everyone who plays on the same date gets the same grid, so you can compare times with friends.

Can I play more than one Sudoku a day?

Yes. Practice mode gives you unlimited new puzzles at easy, medium or hard difficulty. Only the daily counts toward your streak.

Does every puzzle have a unique solution?

Yes. Every DailyFunGames Sudoku is checked to have exactly one solution, so it can always be solved with logic alone, with no guessing needed.

How are points and streaks calculated?

You earn points for solving the daily: faster times, fewer mistakes and fewer hints score more, and harder days are worth up to double. Solve the daily on consecutive days to build your streak; missing a day resets it.
