How a Nonogram duel works

  1. 1One picture for both

Your match gets a hand-drawn picture that can be solved by logic alone. You and your friend get the same clues and the same free squares.

  2. 23-2-1, go

The race starts the moment your friend opens the link: a shared countdown, so you both start at exactly the same time.

  3. 3Fill to the clues

Every row and column must match its clue. Their bar counts the squares they have filled.

  4. 4No hints

Hints are off in a race. Undo, Clear and crossing out still work.

Who wins?

Both finish

The first correct picture wins. Times are measured on our server from the shared start.

Someone leaves, drops out for 15 seconds, or makes no move for 2 minutes

The other player wins straight away.

Want another go?

Either of you can offer a rematch: one tap, a new picture, a new 3-2-1.

How to beat your friend at Nonogram

Big clues first

A run that nearly fills its line fixes the middle squares at once. Sweep the clues for the biggest numbers before anything else.

Drag, don’t tap

Drag along a row to fill a whole run in one go. In a race, every tap you save counts.

Cross the edges

Crossing out the empty squares at the ends of a line often settles its runs. It is worth the extra tap.

A full bar isn’t a win

Their bar counts filled squares, right or wrong. Only a picture that matches every clue ends the race.

Why Nonogram is made for 1v1

A nonogram, also called Picross, Griddlers or Hanjie, is a picture logic puzzle: number clues for each row and column tell you the runs of filled squares, and solving them reveals a hidden picture. Head to head, it rewards a quick read of the clues and steady line-by-line logic.

Every Nonogram 1v1 uses a hand-drawn picture that has been checked to solve one line at a time, without guessing, and both players get the identical clues. The finished grid is checked on our server, and the time is measured there from the shared start, so a win is a real win.

Races are live. Send the link, keep the page open, and the moment your friend opens it you both get the same 3-2-1. If someone leaves mid-race or stops playing, the other player wins, and either of you can call a rematch in one tap. It is free, it runs in any browser, and nobody needs an account: just a name.

Prefer to play alone? Today’s daily Nonogram is the same for everyone, with its own leaderboard and streak.

Nonogram 1v1 questions

Yes. Tap “Challenge a friend”, send the link by WhatsApp, text or any app, and your friend gets the exact same puzzle. Keep the page open: the race starts the moment they open it.

How is the winner decided in Nonogram 1v1?

The first player to fill the grid so every row and column matches its clue wins. Times are measured on our server from the shared start.
