How a Color Guess duel works

  1. 1One set of colours for both

Five fresh target colours are made for your match. You and your friend mix exactly the same ones, from the same paint pots.

  2. 23-2-1, go

The race starts the moment your friend opens the link: a shared countdown, and the first colour appears for both of you at once.

  3. 3Close counts

Every percent your mixes fall short of the targets adds a second to your time. A 90% mix costs ten seconds.

  4. 4No hints

Which paints? is off in a race. It is your eye against theirs.

Who wins?

Both finish

The lowest time wins: from the shared start to your fifth mix, plus a second for every percent missed. Times are measured on our server.

Close on time

The closer mixes usually win. Five perfect colours beat five rushed ones by a long way.

Someone leaves, drops out for 15 seconds, or makes no move for a minute

The other player wins straight away.

Want another go?

Either of you can offer a rematch: one tap, five new colours, a new 3-2-1.

How to beat your friend at Color Guess

Accuracy first

A drop more of the right paint can save five seconds of penalty. Take the extra look.

Main colour first

Get the balance of the two main paints right, then adjust with white or black.

Small mixes

One blue and one yellow is the same green as two of each. Fewer drops are quicker to fix.

Use the keys

On a computer, number keys 1 to 5 add drops and Backspace takes one out. Much quicker than tapping.

Why Color Guess is made for 1v1

Color Guess turns colour mixing into a race. There are no sliders: every target is mixed from drops of real-behaving paint, and you have to see what is in it. Head to head, it becomes a balance of speed and care, because every percent you miss costs a second.

Every Color Guess 1v1 gets five fresh colours, and both players get the identical targets and paints. Every mix is re-mixed and scored on our server, and the time is measured there from the shared start, so a win is a real win.

Races are live. Send the link, keep the page open, and the moment your friend opens it you both get the same 3-2-1. If someone leaves mid-race or stops playing, the other player wins, and either of you can call a rematch in one tap. It is free, it runs in any browser, and nobody needs an account: just a name.

Prefer to play alone? Today’s daily Color Guess is the same for everyone, with its own leaderboard and streak.

Color Guess 1v1 questions

Can I play Color Guess against a friend online?

Yes. Tap “Challenge a friend”, send the link by WhatsApp, text or any app, and your friend gets the exact same colours. Keep the page open: the race starts the moment they open it.

How is the winner decided in Color Guess 1v1?

The lowest time wins. Your time runs from the shared start to your fifth mix, and every percent your mixes fall short of the targets adds a second.

Does screen brightness matter?

Both of you see the target and your mix on the same screen, side by side, so brightness affects both equally. A screen that is very dim or tinted can make close colours harder to tell apart.

Does a 1v1 match use the daily colours?

No. Matches use their own fresh colours, so racing never spoils today’s daily or touches your daily streak.

Is Color Guess 1v1 free?

Yes, completely free in your browser on phone or computer. No download and no account: your friend just opens the link, picks a name, and plays.
