How a Tangram duel works

  1. 1One shape for both

A fresh silhouette is made for your match. You and your friend get exactly the same outline to fill.

  2. 23-2-1, go

The race starts the moment your friend opens the link: a shared countdown, so you both start at exactly the same time.

  3. 3Seven pieces, no gaps

Drag the pieces into the shape, tap to turn, flip the parallelogram. Your friend’s bar shows how many of their pieces are in place.

  4. 4No hints

Hints are off in a race, so nobody gets a piece put in for them.

Who wins?

Both finish

The first perfect fit wins. Times are measured on our server from the shared start.

Someone leaves, drops out for 15 seconds, or stops moving for 90 seconds

The other player wins straight away.

Want another go?

Either of you can offer a rematch: one tap, a new silhouette, a new 3-2-1.

How to beat your friend at Tangram

Big triangles first

The two large triangles cover half the shape. Find where they go and the rest usually falls into place.

Look for corners

Sharp corners in the outline almost always belong to a triangle tip. Square corners often belong to the square.

Leave the parallelogram

It is the awkward one, and it may need flipping. Fit it last, into whatever gap is left.

Pieces in place can still be wrong

Their bar counts pieces inside the shape, not pieces in the right spot. A full bar can still need a swap.

Why Tangram is made for 1v1

Tangram is a thousand-year-old puzzle: seven flat pieces, two large triangles, a medium one, two small ones, a square and a parallelogram, that together fill a shape. Racing someone on the same silhouette turns quiet spatial thinking into a scramble for the right corner.

Every Tangram 1v1 gets its own freshly made silhouette, and both players get the identical outline. The finished layout is checked on our server piece by piece and the time is measured there from the shared start, so a win is a real win.

Races are live. Send the link, keep the page open, and the moment your friend opens it you both get the same 3-2-1. If someone leaves mid-race or stops playing, the other player wins, and either of you can call a rematch in one tap. It is free, it runs in any browser, and nobody needs an account: just a name.

Prefer to play alone? Today’s daily Tangram is the same for everyone, with its own leaderboard and streak.
