Free, no account. Send the link, keep this page open, and the race starts the moment your friend opens it.

How a Crowns duel works

  1. 1One board for both

A fresh 7×7 board is made for your match, with exactly one solution. You and your friend get the same kingdoms and towers.

  2. 23-2-1, go

The race starts the moment your friend opens the link: a shared countdown, so you both start thinking at exactly the same time.

  3. 3One crown each

Every row, every column and every kingdom gets exactly one crown, and no two crowns touch, not even at a corner. Their bar counts crowns that don’t clash.

  4. 4No hints

Hints are off in a race. Marking squares with ✕ and Auto ✕ still work.

Who wins?

Both finish

The first correct board wins. Times are measured on our server from the shared start.

Someone leaves, drops out for 15 seconds, or makes no move for 2 minutes

The other player wins straight away.

Want another go?

Either of you can offer a rematch: one tap, a new board, a new 3-2-1.

How to beat your friend at Crowns

Small kingdoms first

A kingdom of two or three squares has very few places for its crown. Start there.

Cross out around crowns

Every crown rules out its row, its column and the eight squares around it. Turn on Auto ✕ and let the board do the crossing.

Look for locked rows

When one kingdom sits entirely inside a single row or column, that line’s crown must be in that kingdom.

Don’t guess

A wrong crown early costs far more time than a careful look. Every board has one solution you can reach by logic.

Why Crowns is made for 1v1

Crowns is a logic puzzle in the family of queens puzzles: one crown in every row, every column and every coloured kingdom, and no two crowns may touch. It rewards a clear head, which makes it a surprisingly tense race, because the faster player is usually the one who spots the right deduction, not the one who taps fastest.

Every Crowns 1v1 gets its own freshly generated 7×7 board with exactly one solution, and both players get the identical kingdoms. The finished board is checked on our server and the time is measured there from the shared start, so a win is a real win.

Races are live. Send the link, keep the page open, and the moment your friend opens it you both get the same 3-2-1. If someone leaves mid-race or stops playing, the other player wins, and either of you can call a rematch in one tap. It is free, it runs in any browser, and nobody needs an account: just a name.

Prefer to play alone? Today’s daily Crowns is the same for everyone, with its own leaderboard and streak.
