How a Slide 15 duel works

  1. 1One scramble for both

A fresh 4×4 scramble is made for your match, and it is always solvable. You and your friend get exactly the same starting board.

  2. 23-2-1, go

The race starts the moment your friend opens the link: a shared countdown, so you both start sliding at exactly the same time.

  3. 3Tiles home

Put the tiles back in order, 1 to 15, gap in the bottom right. Your friend’s bar shows how many of their tiles are home.

  4. 4Speed beats neatness

In a race only the clock counts. Extra moves don’t cost you anything except the time they take.

Who wins?

Both finish

The first player to put every tile home wins. Times are measured on our server from the shared start.

Someone leaves, drops out for 15 seconds, or stops moving for 90 seconds

The other player wins straight away.

Want another go?

Either of you can offer a rematch: one tap, a new scramble, a new 3-2-1.

How to beat your friend at Slide 15

Row by row

Solve the top row, then the second, then finish the last two rows together. It is the method every fast solver uses.

Slide whole lines

Tap a tile at the far end of a row or column to slide several tiles at once. It saves a lot of taps.

Park the corner tile

The last tile of a row is the tricky one. Bring it below its spot first, then rotate it in with the tile before it.

Their bar can drop

Tiles home goes down as well as up while someone rearranges. A big lead in tiles is not a big lead in time.

Why Slide 15 is made for 1v1

The fifteen puzzle has been driving people mad since the 1880s: fifteen numbered tiles, one gap, and a scramble to put back. Race someone on the same scramble and it becomes a test of method as much as speed, because the player who knows how to finish the last two rows usually wins.

Every Slide 15 1v1 gets its own fresh scramble, checked to be solvable, and both players get the identical board. Every slide is replayed on our server and the time is measured there from the shared start, so nobody can fake a finish.

Races are live. Send the link, keep the page open, and the moment your friend opens it you both get the same 3-2-1. If someone leaves mid-race or stops playing, the other player wins, and either of you can call a rematch in one tap. It is free, it runs in any browser, and nobody needs an account: just a name.

Slide 15 1v1 questions

Can I play the 15 puzzle against a friend online?

Yes. Tap “Challenge a friend”, send the link by WhatsApp, text or any app, and your friend gets the exact same scramble. Keep the page open: the race starts the moment they open it.

How is the winner decided in Slide 15 1v1?

The first player to put every tile home wins. Moves don’t count against you in a race, only time, measured on our server from the shared start.

Is every scramble solvable?

Yes. Half of all random 15-puzzle layouts can never be solved, so every board is checked before the race starts.

Does a 1v1 match use the daily Slide 15?

No. Matches use their own fresh scrambles, so racing never spoils today’s daily or touches your daily streak.

Is Slide 15 1v1 free?

Yes, completely free in your browser on phone or computer. No download and no account: your friend just opens the link, picks a name, and plays.
